WATCH OUT - HOST ADDED TO LION NATHAN ROSTER

Lion Nathan has appointed HOST to complete a scope of work on the company’s craft beer offering, James Squire (alongside incumbent agency Giant Leap) and future innovation projects. The agency joins BMF, Clemenger BBDO and Saatchi and Saatchi on the Lion Nathan roster of agencies.
Marketing Director – Premium and Innovations, Brett Grebert, said: “HOST has a proven track record of delivering highly creative work that works. It also has a great deal of experience in delivering integrated campaigns across multiple touch points – something that is increasingly important at Lion Nathan.”
Says HOST Managing Partner, Anthony Freedman: “We are delighted to be working with Lion Nathan, a company that has repeatedly demonstrated its desire to produce great work. We have been challenged to create world class campaigns that get people talking and we look forward to doing just that.”
Grebert confirmed that the first work from HOST will be developed in conjunction with regular creative partner, The Glue Society (Glue's Gary Freedman and Jonathan Kneebone are pictured above), and will be in market mid-year.

Oooohhh... bet Saatchi's are a bit nervous after Tooheys New disappointment. Did anyone find out how many hits the Tooheys New netsite got? The last time some journo asked they clammed up. I presume The Raining Beer spot did not go viral or they would have crowed about it, like the Carlton Draught gang did last year. Anyway, can't imagine Lion Nathan wasting the talents of Host and The Glue Society just on small projects, so perhaps "future innovative projects" includes the 2007 Tooheys New campaign - and while they're at it, how about a rethink on Hahn Premium (the Gondola spot is a shocker, bring back the Spa version for now, please).

I would say BMF’s days are numbered... Their recent work has been shameful. Have you seen the bus side stuff? Oh dear...

Really? I liked the bus sides. Hahn is way way further down the scale.

There is something extremely inconsistent lately about the glue society.

The fairytale story of multiple directors doesnt seem to be working, every since one of them went to the USA, every job they have directed in oz has been rather errrr pants.

Most notably the recent yahoo merging with channel 7 tvc's that were truly both awfully written and even more awfully directed. Its a real shame to be putting out stuff nocibly worse than of the previous year...better to get someone else to direct it, if the skills are not in sydney.

For the beer ads lets hope than reel in back the dude in the apple, otherwise we could well have another 'for the lover of beer' stinker on our hands

I must admit they have been doing a lot of production work with agencies such as CPB & BBH and taking all the credit for it over here. It would be interesting to find out if the ideas came from the Glue Society or the agencies????

I must say i agree with 8:10am, many agencies in oz such as patts and mojo, avoid getting gluesociety to direct jobs as they have a strong reputation for taking all the credit for both the creative AND the directing. The problem with this creative only agency/directing style company model is that firstly the above problem happens and secondly i imagine to direct sucessfully its a passion from within that is a full time task in its own right. Multi tasking quite visibly doesnt work so well as it leaves holes in the direction. The reason why the model of say collective Traktor is so sucessfull is that although they do get involved in creative collaboration, they are essentially directing only. This avoids all the above problems. In a small market like Oz taking the creative credit for a job from another agency is a big deal as it reflects badly on the agency commissioning the job. Im not sure who was taking the creative credit for their recent gamekillers project with bbh nyc, but whoever it was, owes their ass to wes anderson director of that american film royal tennembaums, as it is a carbon copy, still the pommy guy was pretty funny.

are you serious? worst ads on tv? c'mon...and I'm really sure he can't sleep at night. No need to over react buddy. They were just ads...and we know Glue do the best work that is actually real, not scam.

I know it's not pc to say so, but I do think most of their stuff looks like amateurish student films. Is it really that good or just a bit shocking? The guys are really nice people, and have written some nice things, but their directing often looks like it was made by people who learned to direct by watching professionals do it. It's time to acknowledge the skill of great directors, & agency creatives should stick to coming up with ideas.

quite an extremely worded comment but id say most decent creatives here would agree that those yahoo / 7 ads were dreadfully put together. They are rally unfunny and the casting and look is horrible.

Glue have done some nice tvc's CANON / CANAL+

The Yahoo ad however is not one of them.
