FCB MELBOURNE TEAM RESIGNS

FCB Melbourne senior creative team, Romani Mieszkowski and Deryll Naidoo have resigned. They were behind the launch of the new Honda Civic earlier in the year, which attracted international attention. The team got together at FCB Melbourne after stints working at top London agencies. According to the pair, they are keen to do project-based work in both Melbourne and Sydney from August 28.

What international recognition did their Honda ad get?

I would argue that cog, grrr, choir and dream were rather more instrumental in the establishment of Honda's worldwide creative reputation.

No, no, their "$19,990 with free air" campaign is what took Honda to new heights.

Apart from that ridiculous hair, Deryll's a top bloke. Romani is a great talent and blessed on the looks department to top. FCB Melbourne used to be a cool little shop, with highlights of brilliance on occassion. What is going on there?

Don't see what there is to like about FCB's Honda stuff myself. The Civic ad's positioning line about most cars being unfinished compared to the Civic is peculiar. And the Honda Jazz ad is an expensive commercial with no idea in it.

That's the problem with these weird propositions, the public can see straight through them.

I know that my car is perfectly finished thank you. Even compared to a Civic.

Hey FCB, need a bitter, twisted, jaded, disinterested, totally over-it writer who used to be in Campaign Brief's Top 20, has worked for all the best agencies here and overseas, has car experience, but couldn't give a fuck about advertising any more?

I'm available.

Just saw the latest Honda ad with the Mum wanting a lift. Whoever's doing FCB's strategy is hopeless. Seriously dire.
