greetings from the usa.

sorry to rain on anyone's parade but the mobius awards have zero cache. nobody even enters them in the america and many creatives have never heard of them. really.

don't believe me? check out adweek.com or adage.com - i bet they don't even report them.

still, they make a nice paper weight. sadly i know, i have 4 gold ones collecting dust somewhere.

save your $$ for the good international shows - One Show, D & AD, Cannes, maybe CA. Anything else is a toss.

Harsh... but true.

True, Mobius sucks (so does London International), but the Patts boys are smart entering the Big Ad everywhere, because for little investment they get a mighty haul of gongs, no doubt including some of the big ones to come: D&AD, One Show, Clio and Cannes. (Most clients don't really know the kudos factor of each award, so to them a Mobius sounds as good as a Clio or a Lion or a Yellow Pencil). To date it's already won Gold at Australasia's AWARD, Best of Show at Asia's MC2/Campaign Brief awards (judges only by Mark Waites and Bob Scarpelli) and Gold at London International.

You're right. If you've got a guaranteed winner like BigAd, then you may as well enter it into dodgy shows like Mobius. At least you get some nice statuettes to give to your mum. But what's with so many aussie agencies entering this shit show? It has NO international standing, and NO local relevance.

Mobius has always been a joke, and always will. Fuck it. I'm gunna start my own awards show - everyone who enters at least three pieces @ $500 a go is guaranteed of winning a trophy. That way all the sad fuckers who'll chase anything that remotely looks like an award will be happy, dumb clients who are impressed by anything tall and shiny are happy, and I'll probably get rich.

Big Ad probably won't get a look in at MADC but.

136 first place awards and 143 second place awards. It would be like bragging to your mates that you had sex with a fluffer!

That's right. Big ad fails the MADC test because it wasn't done by one of the trendy agencies, it wasn't created by any members of the self-proclaimed rock star creative mafia, it isn't so obscure that only geeks get it and besides, it was effective.

Not created by the rock star creative mafia?
You have obviously never been into the Patts creative department.
The suits divide the department into three categories.
The Rock Stars, The Wannabes and The Roadies.
Needless to say, The Rock Stars is purley a four peice outfit, admittedly with some major hits behind them.
Unfortunately their Manager isn't interested in any other acts.

To the blogger that wrote "Big ad wasn't created by any members of the self-proclaimed rock star creative mafia": Were you trying to be sarcastic or are you just plan ignorant?
