THE KODAK GONGS CALL FOR ENTRY NOW OPEN + ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW ASIA PACIFIC CATEGORIES
Entries are now being called for the second annual KODAK GONGS , with the closing date 31st March, 2006.
The Kodak Gongs successfully launched their inaugural Award Program last year, recognising excellence in the craft and ideas of commercial moving images in the Asia Pacific Region, attracting an impressive 628 entries from all facets of Production, Advertising Agency Creatives, Production Design, Animation and Post Production, New Media, and Interactive Designers and Developers in their first year.
In 2006, seven new categories have been created lifting the total categories to 48, including 11 Best of the Best. Four new categories have been created to highlight the work from different countries within the region and encourage regional inclusion. These include:
1. Best of North Asia (China & Hong Kong, Taiwan)
2. Best of South Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia,
Philipinnes, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh)
3. Best of Pacific (Australia, New Zealand)
4. Best of North East Asia (Japan, Korea)
The work will continue to be judged in two rounds representing both the Asia Pacific Region and the rest of the world. In 2005 the judges were made up of a stellar panel of Creatives and Production industry representatives, including Warren Brown, ECD of BMF, Danny Searlem ECD of Clemenger BBDO, Sydney, Ruth Lee, newly appointed National ECD Leo Burnett, China; Andy Greenaway, Regional CD Saatchi & Saatchi Bangkok, Tan Shen Guan, Vice Chair & ECD Y&R China & Hong Kong; Masako Okamura, CD Dentsu Tokyo and Nick Worthington, ECD Publicis Mojo, New Zealand.
The Kodak Gongs aims to become the premier commercial content craft and idea award program in the region. Entries can include: website banners, Email commercials, Viral commercials, Online commercials, CD-Rom, DVD, Installation and convergent forms of media, online, offline commercials, Console and mobile games, mobile / SMS Advertising and traditional commercials and campaigns. The Kodak Gongs judges work for all the emerging content platforms on the same level as television and cinema commercials, reflecting the future direction of our industry.
The Kodak Gongs will be in attendance at Adfest in 2006 to promote the Awards and will feature a multi-language version of the 2006 website to attract entries throughout the region.

Award nominees will be announced in June and the award presentation to be held in September 2006. Judges will be announced in March.

There are so many award shows that it's probably time for someone to start an award show which rates award shows. The criteria could include fairness of judging, affordablity of entry, credibility within the industry and worldwide relevance. Don't laugh, I can hear your entrepreneurial brain ticking over...
