POMS STILL CONTROL D&AD JUDGING NUMBERS, BUT OZ WELL PLACED

Just got these figures in from the girls at D&AD, and even though the Poms still control the numbers at their own D&AD Global Awards, it's some consolation for Australia - and testament to our stature in world advertising today - that we are ranked third in terms of number of judges for 2007.....

UNITED KINGDOM 132 judges
UNITED STATES 32
AUSTRALIA 10
GERMANY 7
SINGAPORE 7
FRANCE 6
JAPAN 5
NEW ZEALAND 5
SWEDEN 5
NETHERLANDS 4
SPAIN 4
CANADA 3
ITALY 3
ARGENTINA 2
BRAZIL 2
CHINA 2
SOUTH AFRICA 2
THAILAND 2
AUSTRIA 1
BELGIUM 1
INDIA 1
MALAYSIA 1
MEXICO 1
SWITZERLAND 1

its the best award show. Most of the best creatives are british anyway. So i think it fair enough.

The best work always gets up anyway no matter who the judges.

Plus kiwi work doenst do so well as we poms know most of its a big scam anyway.

Yes, but Singapore's only got two million people and they get seven judges.

Based on per capita, Australia should have 100.

But that means the US should have 1050 judges!

Let's not forget that Nobby's on the radio jury.

Just in case nobody fucking knows yet.

Whose going to do the maths on China?

Using that logic, China should have 4672 judges.

Seeing as they've only got 2 they must be fucking fuming.

Amusingly enough, if Andorra ever started entering awards and we use the above mathematical logic that says you get one judge per 286,000 people - their population of 70,500 would mathematically earn them an amputated leg in the jury.

Direct quotes from Lynchy's last few articles.

“This year’s line-up of foremen is both formidable and inspiring. From David Nobay in Radio Advertising..."

"..As reported earlier, David Nobay, ECD of Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney has been elected foreman of the Radio jury."

"David Nobay, ECD of Saatchi & Saatchi, Sydney -- RADIO (foreman)"

"NOBBY TO CHAIR PRESTIGIOUS D&AD RADIO JURY

David Nobay, ECD of Saatchi & Saatchi Australia, has been selected to chair the Radio jury for next year's D&AD Awards, the first time an Australian has been given one of the key chairman's roles. The pommie award organisation believes Australia is one of the world's centres of excellence (Australia was ranked fourth at both Cannes and D&AD this year) and that may be the reason for the honour. Nobby is certainly a favourite with the D&AD gang as he was on the Print jury last year. As a result of the huge success this year, Australia and New Zealand will be getting even more juror spots at D&AD next year, a list being compiled right now."

Saatchi bias? Naaaahhhh.

It is the biggest news being that he's been named the 'foreman' on the Radio Jury. Quite an honor actually. Australia should be proud.

But thanks anyway fuck-knuckle.

I don't think it was the newsworthyness of the story that was being pointed out, it was the number of times we were being told it.

Idiot.

It's how many awards you win that counts, not how many judges you get on the panel.

You Australians will make a competition of absolutely anything.

11:39, if you've ever sat on a jury, as I have, you'll know that your comment is rather naiive.

The awards you win directly corellate to the amount of mates you have on the jury.

It's the way of things.

We were trying to do something a bit different and my art director got our pencil stuck up his arse. It looks pretty cool but what category should we enter it in?

12.31 Of course you're right, I was having a bit of a gratuitous jab.
