MICAH WALKER TO CREATIVE DIRECTOR AT FALLON LONDON
CB hears former Leo Burnett Sydney CD, Micah Walker, who has been at Fallon in London for the past year, together with Juan Cabral, have been promoted to the positions of creative directors. The move sees Fallon's creative heads, Richard Flintham and Andy McLeod, assume the titles of joint executive creative directors.
Cabral, 28, wrote and art directed the Sony 'Balls' spot for Sony Bravia, which won the platinum award at the Creative Circle Awards, as well as Best of Show at the YoungGuns Awards. It is a strong contender for the Grand Prix at Cannes in June.

micah walker was the best creative i ever worked with in Australia, what a waste that he was dumped like a cunt at Leo's
Total agree.
Another example of small-minded people in management that felt threatened by a true creative talent.
Well done Micah. We're sure you'll inspire the Fallon team just like you did with the Leos creative department.
way to go micah!

Well done mate. Nothing more than is deserved.
And can I just say that even though he was nicely shafted by Leo's, they did get Glen Ryan. A beacon of advertising and an inspiration to all around him. He brought the old values back, like jingles and cliches.
Genius.
Great work, inspired creative, fantantic leader of his team. Only problem was that he was supposed to be working at an advertising agency. Clients don't usually buy their work from art galleries or arthouse film studios (clearly where Micah thinks he should be). Leos got rid of him because he didn't like clients very much, & the clients didn't like him. A really great creative knows the purpose of his/her work.
You're up early Mark (or is that Nigel?). And don't forget he was an American (or sounded like one) - Aussie clients can't stand Yanks. As to Glen Ryan, 6:35, I thought he was pretty good. He was CD on Canon 'Rodeo' which was Leo's biggest award winner last year - with more gongs to come this year. What did Micah do as CD (or was he deputy CD, as Souter was still there)?
This is such a great forum for current and ex leo staff to air their dirty laundry. More please.
Ryan - boring talentless hack, adept at jumping onto creative bandwagons
Is that you Hairy Bananas? Must be 12.30am in Geneva. Or you John? Heard Canon 'Rodeo' did OK at The One Show.
No. just someone else who thinks he is a boring talentless hack. Curious that there might be more than one.
Is that you Micah? Congrats on the Fallon gig.
micah won two silvers at cannes for ski yoghurt. And was creative director for the great canon stuff that was done before rodeo.
And it WAS his work wasn't it?
Wasn't it?
Oh fuck, now what do we do?
Quick someone call Fallon before it's too late.
Micah won one Silver at Cannes for that weird Ski campaign, not two, as well as a Silver Lion the year before for that Bundy toilet ambient campaign. Nick Souter was CD on both. The Canon 'Flip Book' TV was only a Finalist at Cannes, and again Nick Souter was CD, not Micah. As CD, Micah is yet to win at Cannes.
Your right, he hasn't won at Cannes as a CD. But he was CD on Canon Colour and Hell Child - both got a finalist at Cannes. Not bad after three months in the job.
G'day to all. Good to hear about Micah. Bloody excellent indeed. A well deserved appointment for a person that challenged everyone to be better. To think beyond the norm. We don't know of anyone in the creative department that didn't learn from him. We certainly did. It was because of his creative direction on Canon that we all had to try so bloody hard to make the next one better. Wonder what will happen with this years campaign???
As for "Box Head" our Mother's always said if you can't say something nice about someone don't say anything at all.
The Hairy Banana
Sorry, 5:53. He was not CD on Canon 'Colour' and 'Hell Child' (incidentally, the Hairy Banana was creative team on the latter). True, both got a finalist at Cannes in 2004 but again, Nick Souter was CD - at least as far as official Cannes records are concerned.
His reputation is to nick other peoples work & present it as his own. There must be a category at Cannes for that.
Micah was a good guy. this is very shit to hear people slagging him off. the hairy banana boys got it right, he did try hard to do things better.
All this negative stuff is not cool, he doesn't deserve it. He didn't steal work. He did challenge clients but never insulted them by showing them work he didn't believe in. Yes, he did make some mistakes [as we all do] but in the long run, he helped make Leo Burnett a better place.

Is that you Micah? It's 6.50am in Australia on Saturday morning so can't be any of the creatives over here, unless it's Bobbi Gassy coming home from the nightclub.
Or more knowledgable than you
Micah is a champion bloke and at Leo's he created a great culture where everyone was having fun, all of the creatives loved him, he got the best out of everyone in the quality of their ideas. Nick Souter was still there, but Micah was the hands-on CD on pretty much all the work that did well at Cannes. He didn't steal a thing. To show how stupid Leo's were they brought in Glen Ryan. From the outside you can only laugh at appointments like these. He had absolutely nothing to do with the Canon spot - AT ALL - yet wants to claim it as his own and tried to screw over the Hairy Banana at the same time.... and is now working for arguably the worst agency office in the country. Wouldn't you think that making a spot like Canon Rodeo would lead to bigger and better roles? It just shows that everyone that counts knows the truth. RESULT - Hairy Banana get a global gig with the best agency network. Ryan gets JWT Melbourne.
I'm really enjoying this...Any more dirties on Private Ryan? Nothing personal, but here in Melbourne he has the reputation of being a nice, decent bloke...Avoid personal shit before we get censored....
don't do any work that's better than what he is capable of doing (not hard mind you) - or WATCH OUT!!!
thanks for firing me Micah - I'd forgotten what work was like.
