Meh.
Who the fuck is the old guy at the end of the third one?
Love em
Not another parody from Patts.
Sorry Ant, Grant, it's not up to the high standard you've set with other recent work. It's not catchy, lacks any sort of property that comes from the brand itself, and as the third completely different campaign from Cougar in recent years (the public don't know it's endured a change of agencies during this time) must have the public totally bamboozled as to where this brand sits, what it says about the brand and who it's targeted at.
Apart from that, it makes no sense and it's really corny.
Really funny and really well directed. I liked them more than Flashbeer. Loved the music, loved the lead guy, loved the writing, loved the grade (yes, the grade) loved that they were all different and thought that the kind of people who drink Cougar would love it. Great. Just really great, I bow down before you both.

From the sounds of it you're going to give them both a good knob polishing while you're down there.
As a consumer I find the idea disgustingly bogan. However, I have encountered a couple of cougar drinkers in my time and you've hit the nail on the head.
My hat is off. Good work guys.
That kicking of the gong is gold. Bravo.
utter shit
Yeah ok, it's pretty similar to that campaign out of the states for (was it?) Jim Beam - or some other booze with a double-barreled name - where they had two cheesy mock-action heroes... very, very similar in fact.
But it's funny stuff. I like it lots.
The Bacardi and Cola stuff done years ago is much better and importantly, relevant to the product.

You guys are being so hot right now. We think your Barry is cute and hairy
I like 'em and I love the gong.
But, I think I've seen it (the gong gag) before, or something v. similar.
Can anyone tell me where?
get your hand off it, please. If this was done by Joe Shmoe Advertising Agency then everyone would be canning the shit out of it. But because it's done by GPYR everyone thinks it's tops.
Let's be honest about it. It is average at best. Probably better then most things on TV but really it's nothing to write home about.
I'd be surprised if it made it onto Ant & Grants reel.
I don't think they're really suppose to make sense. And whoever asked about the old dude at the end of the speediness spot...a little tip...don't think about it too hard...
They're different, they're fun and they don't try too hard.
And unlike Flash Beer, there isn't really any point comparing this campaign to Big Ad...They're not advertising Carlton Draught.
6.32... Must have the public bamboozled where the brand sits? Do you really think the punters out there sit around and ponder ads? Give me a break. I know a hell of a lot of people out there in the 'real' world that love them. In my opinion I'm glad they've moved on from tit gags...
They're great. I love the whole Chuck Norris parody. Some of you guys are over thinking it. It's alcohol. And it's fun. There's one big ad and it's been done. Move on! Well done guys.
For 10 years Patts hadn't done a thing and then in the last couple of years they've been brilliant... 10.41 it's the ads that make that agency great and in my opinion this is another example. If you've read scary good, you might get it. These ads are a testiment to their philosophy. Which I might ad it's refreshing to see an agency that lives by a philosophy not just words. Go boys (and Sass)
They'd have to be up there with the worst
badly directed
poorly cast
and not funny
truckloads of cash x (Keogh + Rutherford) = can do no wrong
Go the Patts boys & Sass & Katie Britten.
Go Pies!
12.20pm, i think you're looking for the BWM Telstra thread...This one is about those Cougar ads.
How can you not think these are funny?
I love'em.
9.34 you're right. That Bacardi and Cola stuff is so much funnier and more watchable. I reckon these have a wear out factor of about 1 compared.
I checked out the bacardi & coke stuff....YAWN....you obviously don't know what is funny, or you might be a bit old and cheesey. Snap out of it, the cougar has a mix of reality with odd little nuances mixed in, where the B&C stuff is in your face slap stick, need more chicks etc crap.
Whatever you think about the execution of the Bacardi and Cola ads, they feature the most astonishingly, awesomely honest end line in the history of alcohol advertising.
*BACARDI AND COLA - THEY GET THE JOB DONE*
Can you imagine FACTS ever approving a line like that? No freakin' way!
Yup the end line is a goodie..... but it still doesnt make em funnier. Can't always rely on that end line saving your idea, unless your desperate.
Everyone on this blog spot is clearly in advertising too. as if the "public" would be confused by anythign or give a rats fuck where the brand "sits".
You cunts have no idea what the "public" is thinking.
The ad is a laugh. Get over it wankers.
I agree with the last comment. There is too many shit ads with cars driving on salt lakes and shit to be criticising this one. Barry would bash the shit out of all of you and then go down to the local, sink a few cougars, tell his mates how he bashed you advertising wankers and then stagger home and root his missus!! Take another look at these ads, have a good hard look at yourselves in the mirror, and realise barry dawson is way cooler than you will ever be!! their should be more of it.
GO THE COUGARRRRRRRR......
sean bats for the other team
Who's that?
To all the people that say it's crap, don't be such a toss lighten up and have a laugh.
These ads are the talking point of all the blokes at work. It helps we have our own Barry amongst us. They hit the target audience perfectly for who they were designed for. There is a bit of Barry the cougar in all average blokes and we all like him. Well done on a great campaign.
Generally you guys commenting have missed the point of these ads!
Are you all talking about couger bourbon or something associated with couger bourbon?
Of course the answer is YES!
The advertisers have done their job!
Congratualtions to the promoters.
