A note from Patrick Tonkin....
Since completing Award School in 06 I've been reading your blog. My background is copywriting and art direction/design, but recently I've made the jump into sound design and music arrangement, having completed soundtracks for many major brands. I was wondering if I could advertise my site on your blog or give you a link.
I've just finished a pretty hysterical viral...

I'm hoping will drive traffic to my site:

  • Tasty Blips offers cutting edge soundtrack composition and sound design at a fraction of the cost of the larger production houses. With experience creating sounds and music for big brands, a background in art direction and copywriting, Tasty Blips provides sound solutions for TV Commercials, digital media, radio and any other project requiring the element of sound and music. Tasty Blips can create in a wide variety of music genres in a flash. Samples and work can be found at

    Go Pat.

You're brilliant writer and unfortunately for me an even better musician. I'm sure you'll do sound (haw haw).

Pat & Ben left there ages ago. Apparently a bit of a sinking ship, did well to get out when they did.

Dude, if you think that's 'hysterical' you must be very easy to please.
That was well and truly lame and boring, just like the audio track.
    Go back to writing ads.

He probably left advertising because he prefers easy to please over serious, cynical hacks.

    Hi, 1.09 here again.

So, all sticking up for ya buddy here are ya?

Come on, if he's gonna say it's 'hysterical' when it's so obviously average at best, he deserves to be shut down. It's not new, exciting or even different to hundreds of dudes all over you tube. If he was a true creative he would have thought of a more engaging way to sell himself.

Right, best get my hand back on my knob now...

And what have you ever done that's so fucking wonderful? A TVC for birdseye? Some DM for a bank?

A true creative? You mean one of those losers that stays back all night trying to suck his CD's cock, wasting his life making ads for cocksucking corporations that screw people?

Pathetic. I'm amazed that you can take time out of your busy schedule to insult people. Go on, go back to your faggoty scripts. Make an ad for MacDonalds... or Optus.

Hey everyone thanks for all your feedback.

    Any publicity is good publicity.

640 hits on YouTube can't be a bad thing!

So thank you everyone that's written in. Spread the love!

Just a small comment here, as someone who writes faggoty scripts for birdseye, etc etc.

Advertising isn't the greatest profession in the world, and I don't think anyone's claimed to be a 'true genius' on here at all.

But one thing. If you don't like ads, get off the blog.

We might be tossers, but at least we're not rude fuckwits listening in on other peoples conversations.

    Ad Wanker.

    haha what a funny blog...

i think everyone should hug/wank or whatever you enjoy doing its all good.

    1) this guy is advertising his music composition skills, which if you look at his site, his music is actually quite great.

    2) He is not a filmdirector/production company, so of course his viral isn't a jack black movie or scorcese film....

strange people like to bring others down instead of trying to encourage.

what a sad sad state the industry is in today.
