LIFE'S A PITCH: AGENCY.COM TRIES TO GO VIRAL PITCHING THE SUBWAY ACCOUNT
Agency.com in the US, as part of a pitch to land the interactive portion of the Subway account, made a 9-minute video of . . . well, Agency.com trying to pitch the Subway account. Just as no one needs to see how the sausage is made, no one needs to see a pitch (even a dramatized one). Or do they? It's been panned by most ad critics, but what do you think?

riveting. i'm pretty sure my favorite part was at the end when for a moment we were watching them watch the video they were making us watch.
It's not a new idea. I was with a small agency trying to pitch some tourism account years ago, and we made a video along much the same lines.
Ours was shit, too.
It has certainly gone viral by the looks of it. That is, it's on the CB blog (among others) and we are all talking about it.
9:59 i'm sure every agency in the USA was watching your every move years back.
if the 'it's been done before' arguement rules it out we'd love to see your work.
Hey 1:03, why the aggro? I was just stating a fact; two facts actually.
Fact 1: Our crappy agency did the same thing a few years ago.
Fact 2: It was shit, just like agency.com's effort.
Nowhere did I suggest or imply that they ripped off our shit work to produce their shit work. But in the spirit of creativity, of which originality is a major part, I'd suggest that the "it's been done before argument" does indeed rule it out.
Now a question for you: Who exactly are the "we" who'd love to see my work?

What a great way to look like a pack of idiots. I love how they tell us "It's got to be funny!" and then there's no funny anywhere.
If you bothered to sit through the original then you should watch this spoof as your time will not have been completely wasted.

Did they get the account?
You're going to have to start being a bit more selective. When people walk into my office and I'm watching something good, I've got a great excuse. When I show them I'm watching shit like this, they think I must be incredibly bored at work.
Doesn't ABSOLUTELY every agency do a video of themselves: using a prospect's product, interviewing the public and showing what madcap people we all are in advertisig? At least we're not misguided enough to then try and 'seed' it on the net.
I felt like I was watching an episode of The Aprentice.
