CANADIAN COPYWRITER JOINS THE BRAND AGENCY, PERTH

The Brand Agency Perth has appointed awarded Canadian creative, Kurt Beaudoin, to the team.
Beaudoin is 31 years old and has worked on clients such as Westjet, Husky Energy, Shaw Cable, Southland Transportation, the Calgary Zoo and the Calgary Stampede.
He was most recently Senior Copywriter and Co-Creative Director of Highwood Communications in Calgary, Canada, where he has lived and worked at various agencies for eight years.
Brand Agency Managing Director, Steve Harris, said that recruiting international talent of Kurt’s calibre was an extremely positive step for the agency: “Our commitment to providing a strong foundation and offering leadership and creative opportunities had proven to be a great incentive for the kind of staff we look for on a global level,” he said.
Beaudoin said the decision to come to Perth was easy: “My Australian wife says it’s her favourite city in the world, so we’ve always had Perth on our radar. And when I noticed some of the Perth agencies were starting to show up at the big award shows, it seemed like the right time to make the move.
“I am looking forward to working in a larger agency than I’m used to and keeping myself busy working on any and every client I can get my hands on,” he said.
“I’m also looking forward to sending home pictures of myself sitting on the beach in the middle of January.”
Beaudoin’s portfolio covers all forms of media and includes awards from The One Show, Communication Arts, Clios, Marketing Magazine, Applied Arts, Art Directors Club of Canada, Extras (Canada’s newspaper awards) and the Crystals (Canada’s radio awards).
The “rubber ducky” ad (left) for the Calgary Zoo made it into the Communication Arts Advertising Annual and the Clios. And the “Become a school bus driver” campaign for Southland Transportation (below) will appear in this year’s One Show advertising annual.

Do we really need these award winning people in agencies?

Most of the work requires one creative person with common sense and a bunch of people with software skills for churning it out.
