DDB'S CARPENTER LURED TO M&C SAATCHI

Paul Carpenter, creative director on Dell at DDB Sydney, is heading for a group head position at M&C Saatchi Sydney, effective Feb 26, to work on the Optus business, teamed with Hamish Stewart.
The move comes as Dell is reviewing its business in Asia (in a few weeks time between DDB and Euro RSCG) and five months before it is due to do likewise in Australia and NZ.
Carpenter, who had a seven year stint at DDB before a two year period working at smaller shops - including CD at Exceptions - was brought back to DDB 14 months ago to be CD on Dell soon after the account was won from Euro, at the time the result of an international realignment. However, this time last year, DDB Chicago lost the US Dell consumer business, worth $250m, to BBDO Atlanta. The agency retained DM and globally focussed work.
